V O T I N G At The Age Of 16*

As the voting age has been set at 18 years of age for the past years, many younger kids probably have wondered why they don't have the chance to vote.  Now that the opportunity has come that 16 years olds 'may' be eligible to vote, teenagers will have a much bigger say.  We ask our selves, do 16 year olds know enough about political issues and what exactly they are voting for? Most likely, the answer is 'no they don't'.  Most 16 year olds do not know as much as they should about politics and what effects it has on a family or business with a new type government or Prime Minister.

When a person turns 16, many new responsibilities are laid out for them.  They can start to drive car, be charged as an adult when in a criminal offence, and also be taxed like an everyday adult. If a 16 year old can do all these things, then why can't he/she have the right to vote?  When most teens finish high school they will be 17 or 18 years of age, so for a 17 year old to be done high school and basically moving on to his life career will not have a say in voting? In my opinion, this is terrible and not fair for the young adults coming into the real world of there careers.

Since many have said that 16 year olds do not know that much about politics, they are in fact wrong in some ways;  if a 14 year old is extremely interested in politics, he/she can actually volunteer for a campaign or volunteer as a poll volunteer on Election Day.
